There is no violence at all; the intensity is emotional, including Bing Bong's self-sacrifice fading away and Riley nearly running away from home while emotionally numb. Younger kids enjoy the colors while older ones grasp the psychology. Superb from age 5, and a great conversation starter about feelings.
